MISSION The Substation Protection and Control Design Engineer is responsible for the engineering, design, and implementation of protection, control, and automation systems for electrical substations. This role ensures the safe, reliable, and effective operation of power systems by developing and delivering detailed technical solutions in accordance with industry standards and project requirements. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design protection and control schemes for high-voltage and medium-voltage substations.
- Develop detailed engineering documentation, including single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, schematics, and functional logic.
- Specify and select protection relays, control equipment, and associated substation automation systems.
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE) and client specifications.
- Perform coordination studies and contribute to protection settings definition in collaboration with system studies teams.
- Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
- Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting phases.
- Interface with multidisciplinary teams, including primary design, SCADA, civil, and commissioning engineers.
- Review vendor documentation and ensure alignment with project requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and engineering practices. Candidate Profile
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field.
- Experience in protection and control systems for substations.
- Knowledge of power systems, relay protection principles, and substation automation.
- Familiarity with engineering tools and design software (e.g., AutoCAD, EPLAN, or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of IEC standards relevant to power systems.
- Ability to interpret and produce complex technical documentation.
- Good communication skills and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
- Problem-solving mindset and attention to detail.
