May 2nd – Aug 30th: Management Quota Mechanical Engineering in BMSCE Bangalore

B.M.S. College of Engineering — universally known as BMSCE — stands at the intersection of legacy and aspiration in South India's engineering education landscape. Founded in 1946 by the late Sri B.M. Additional Costs to Budget For

Beyond tuition, students should budget for several recurring and one-time costs. Hostel fees at BMSCE range from ₹2,18,500 to ₹2,24,000 per year (inclusive of mess charges), which adds significantly to the total cost of attendance for outstation students. Other charges include examination fees, library deposits, lab fees, and student activity fees, which are levied semester-wise.

A one-time application fee is required at the time of applying for management quota consideration. The actual seat-booking amount (advance payment on confirmation) is paid via Demand Draft favouring the BMS Educational Trust, payable at Bengaluru, and must be drawn from the parents' account only — a requirement that guards against third-party payments.

Eligibility Criteria for Management Quota Admission

The eligibility norms for management quota admission follow Karnataka HED guidelines. At a minimum, candidates must have completed Class 12 (PUC or equivalent) with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. The third optional subject must be one of: Chemistry, Computer Science, Biology, Biotechnology, or Electronics. A minimum aggregate of 45–50% in the PCM combination is required for General Merit candidates; reserved category students are eligible at 40%.

Importantly, a valid entrance exam score — from KCET, COMEDK UGET, or JEE Main — is still expected, though the rank cutoff for management quota is typically far more relaxed than merit routes. This makes management quota viable for students who sat the entrance exams but secured ranks beyond the regular BMSCE Mechanical Engineering cutoff range.
