Structural Design Engineer West Bengal

Role Overview

The Structural Design Engineer will be responsible for planning, analysis, and structural design of water supply and sewerage project under DPR preparation and PMC supervision assignments. The role

involves preparation, review, and validation of structural designs, drawings, and BOQs, ensuring compliance with relevant Indian Standards, CPHEEO guidelines, and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out structural analysis and design of water supply and sewerage structures such as:

a. Overhead Water Tanks (OHT/ESR/GLSR)

b. Sumps, reservoirs, pump houses, valve chambers

c. Intake wells, jack wells, treatment plant structures

d. RCC/Pile foundations, staging, and supporting structures

e. Interception and Diversion structure, STP, Intermediate pump house

Prepare design calculations, design notes, and technical reports as part of DPR submissions.

Develop GFC (Goodfor Construction) drawings, structurallayouts, reinforcement detailing, and bar bending schedules (BBS).

Coordinate with hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical teams to ensure design integration.

Assist in cost estimation, quantity take-offs, and preparation of BOQs related to structural works.

Ensure designs comply with IS codes, CPHEEO manuals, MoHUA guidelines, and client specifications.

Review and approve contractor shop drawings, design submissions, and method statements.

Provide technical support during construction and address site-related structural issues.

Conduct design vetting and value engineering, where required.

Support field teams in resolving discrepancies between drawings and site conditions.

Ensure structural safety, quality, and constructability during execution.

Coordinate with Client, PMC team, Third Party Inspectors (TPI), and contractors.

Participate in technical meetings, design review discussions, and site inspections.
