Job Description: Swimming Coach Position Title Swimming Coach Reporting To Principal / Sports Coordinator Department Sports & Physical Education Role Purpose The Swimming Coach is responsible for training students in swimming techniques, ensuring water safety, and promoting physical fitness through structured swimming programs. The coach will guide students to develop confidence in water, swimming skills, discipline, and sportsmanship while maintaining strict safety standards in the swimming pool area. Key Responsibilities 1. Swimming Training & Coaching
- Provide professional swimming training to students of different age groups.
- Teach basic to advanced swimming techniques including floating, breathing, and strokes.
- Train students in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly based on their skill levels.
- Prepare students for intra-school and inter-school swimming competitions. 2. Student Safety & Supervision
- Ensure strict adherence to swimming pool safety protocols at all times.
- Supervise students closely during swimming sessions.
- Ensure proper use of safety equipment such as floaters, kickboards, and lane ropes.
- Be prepared to handle water safety emergencies and rescue situations if required. 3. Skill Development & Fitness
- Help students improve strength, stamina, coordination, and endurance.
- Encourage discipline, regular practice, and sportsmanship.
- Provide individual guidance based on students’ learning pace and skill levels. 4. Session Planning
- Plan and conduct structured swimming training sessions according to the school timetable.
- Develop progressive training programs for beginners, intermediate, and advanced swimmers.
- Monitor and record student progress and performance. 5. Pool Management Support
- Ensure the swimming pool area remains safe, clean, and properly maintained.
- Report maintenance issues or safety concerns to the school administration.
- Ensure proper use and care of swimming equipment and training materials. 6. Event Participation
- Support the organization of school sports events and swimming competitions.
- Encourage students to participate in intra-school and inter-school tournaments.
- Assist during sports day and swimming demonstrations. Qualifications
- National Level Certification in Swimming Coaching or Participation (Mandatory)
- Diploma / Degree in Physical Education (B.P.Ed / M.P.Ed) preferred
- First Aid and CPR certification is an added advantage Experience
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in swimming coaching
- Experience working with school students or sports academies preferred Skills & Competencies
- Strong swimming techniques and coaching abilities
- Knowledge of water safety and rescue procedures
- Ability to train and manage students of different age groups
- Good communication and motivational skills
