(WWT) Currently has an exciting opportunity available for the role of Network Engineer (NetBrain)- Contract– Remote Opportunity . If you are interested in this opportunity, please respond with an updated resume and the required details at the bottom of this email.Position: Network Engineer (NetBrain) Remote Opportunity Contract: 6+ Months with high possibility of extensions Role Overview Client is expanding the discovery coverage of its NetBrain network automation platform as part of the Cyber Enhancement Programme (CEP). Current coverage spans approximately 80% of the network estate; the remaining ~20% sits largely within DMZ environments and segments protected by firewall rules and Access Control Lists (ACLs).Historically, perimeter identification has relied on manual assessment, which is not scalable. A new approach compares devices discovered with public IP addressing against the external IP inventory to identify perimeter-facing assets automatically. The Network Engineer will work alongside the GTIS NetBrain team to close the residual discovery gap and bring the environment to full visibility.Three engineers will be onboarded in total, aligned to the UK, US and India to provide time-zone coverage and to support regional change windows. 2. Purpose of the Role The engineers will focus exclusively on remediating NetBrain discovery gaps. Discovery activity and gap identification will continue to be performed by the GTIS NetBrain team; the engineer will take curated lists of undiscovered devices and drive them through to successful discovery, removing access, configuration and policy blockers along the way.3. Key Responsibilities Work from curated lists of undiscovered devices supplied by the GTIS NetBrain team. Diagnose why devices are not discoverable, isolating root cause across the network path. Identify blocked paths, including firewall policy and ACL restrictions, and document findings. Coordinate firewall rule changes through the appropriate clients teams and change processes.Implement ACL changes directly where the device or platform falls within scope. Support scalable remediation through automation, including the use of Ansible for bulk ACL and access-rule changes. Validate that remediated devices are successfully discovered in NetBrain and update tracking artefacts accordingly.Operate within client change management standards, including raising and executing changes during approved windows. Provide handover notes, evidence and metrics back to the GTIS NetBrain lead at agreed cadences. 4. Required Skills and Experience Essential Strong core networking knowledge across enterprise routing and switching.Hands-on experience with firewalls (rule design, troubleshooting, change implementation). Practical experience configuring and troubleshooting ACLs on enterprise network devices. Confident IP addressing skills (IPv4 subnetting, public vs private addressing, NAT). Proficiency with SNMP and CLI / SSH access for device interrogation and remediation.Ability to diagnose network paths and access failures end-to-end. Ansible knowledge sufficient to drive bulk ACL and access-rule changes. Comfortable working in a regulated, change-controlled enterprise environment. Desirable Prior experience working in a financial services or other large, regulated estate.Familiarity with DMZ architectures and perimeter design patterns. Exposure to scripting (Python, Bash) to support automation tasks. Not Required NetBrain experience is not mandatory. Familiarity is helpful but not essential— the necessary platform knowledge can be picked up on the job with support from the GTIS NetBrain team.5. Working Pattern and Overtime Analysis and investigation activity will be performed during standard working hours. Implementation activity (firewall and ACL changes) will be performed out of hours, including evenings and weekends, in line with client change windows. Regular weekend work should be expected— this is not an occasional requirement.
