Mechanical Engineer (Nabinagar)

Role & responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise all rigging and lifting activities at the project site.
- Prepare detailed lifting plans, rigging studies, lift calculations, and method statements for routine and critical lifting operations.
- Ensure all lifting operations are executed safely and in compliance with project specifications, statutory regulations, and client requirements.
- Review crane load charts, lifting capacities, ground-bearing capacities, and site conditions before lifting activities.
- Select appropriate lifting equipment, rigging gear, slings, shackles, spreader beams, lifting frames, and other accessories based on load requirements.
- Verify that all cranes, lifting tools, tackles, and rigging equipment are inspected, certified, and fit for use.
- Conduct risk assessments (HIRA/JSA) and implement control measures for lifting and rigging activities.
- Coordinate with construction, mechanical, electrical, and logistics teams to ensure smooth execution of lifting operations.
- Monitor critical and heavy lifting activities, including tandem lifts and engineered lifts.
- Ensure compliance with Permit to Work (PTW) requirements for lifting operations.
- Provide technical guidance to crane operators, riggers, signalmen, and lifting supervisors.
- Investigate lifting incidents, near misses, and equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain lifting records, inspection reports, certificates, lift plans, and related documentation.
- Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, audits, and site inspections.
- Review lifting equipment inspection schedules and ensure timely third-party certification.
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards such as ASME, OSHA, BS, LOLER, and project-specific lifting procedures.
