About the Role We are looking for a passionate SDR Intern to work on radio frequency (RF) systems and software-defined radio technologies for Counter-UAS applications. The intern will assist in RF signal monitoring, spectrum analysis, protocol investigation, and SDR-based development activities used in drone detection and electronic warfare systems. This role is ideal for students interested in wireless communications, RF engineering, signal processing, and defence technologies. Key Responsibilities ● Work with SDR platforms such as HackRF, USRP, BladeRF, LimeSDR, or RTL-SDR. ● Capture, analyze, and interpret RF signals using SDR tools. ● Perform spectrum monitoring and signal characterization across different frequency bands. ● Assist in identifying and decoding wireless communication protocols. ● Develop basic SDR applications using GNU Radio and Python. ● Support RF testing, experimentation, and documentation activities. ● Participate in field testing and performance evaluation of CUAS systems. ● Prepare technical reports and maintain experiment records. Required Skills Technical ● Understanding of basic RF and wireless communication concepts. ● Knowledge of modulation techniques (AM, FM, ASK, FSK, PSK, QPSK, OFDM, etc.). ● Familiarity with SDR concepts and spectrum analysis. ● Basic understanding of antennas and propagation principles. ● Programming knowledge in Python. ● Familiarity with Linux environment. Tools (Any Exposure Preferred) ● GNU Radio ● SDR ● Universal Radio Hacker (URH) ● MATLAB / Simulink ● Wireshark ● HackRF / RTL-SDR / USRP platforms Preferred Qualifications ● Pursuing B.Tech/B.E. in Electronics & Communication, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, or related fields. ● Experience in academic projects involving wireless communication, SDR, IoT, RF systems, or embedded systems. ● Participation in hackathons, research projects, or defence-related initiatives is a plus. ● Understanding of signal processing concepts is desirable. What We Look For ● Robust analytical and problem-solving skills. ● Curiosity for reverse engineering wireless systems. ● Ability to learn quickly and work independently. ● Interest in drones, electronic warfare, RF intelligence, and defence technologies. ● Hands-on engineering mindset with experimentation abilities. Nice-to-Have Skills ● GNU Radio flowgraph development. ● Digital Signal Processing (DSP). ● RF measurements using spectrum analyzers or VNAs. ● Protocol analysis using URH. ● Basic knowledge of drone communication systems. ● Embedded systems exposure (STM32, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, etc.).
