Role Description

This is a full-time Mechanical Engineer role based on-site. The Mechanical Engineer will play a key role in designing and overseeing site fabrication activities, equipment installation, project commissioning and maintenance activities.

Qualifications

- Proficiency in Mechanical Engineering
- Excellent knowledge of materials and fittings for quality control
- At least 3 years prior experience in greenfield project construction and commissioning
- Strong skills in Project Management and team collaboration
- Knowledge of safety and compliance standards in industrial environments
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs;
- Ability to work in an on-site, fast-paced industrial setting

Responsibilities

Equipment Design & Selection

- Design or specify pressure vessels, heat exchangers, reactors, tanks, and columns
- Select pumps, compressors, agitators, valves, and rotating equipment
- Ensure equipment meets process requirements (pressure, temperature, corrosion, flow)

Mechanical Calculations

- Pressure & vacuum design
- Thermal expansion and stress analysis
- Nozzle loads and equipment supports
- Relief and blowdown considerations (with process/safety teams)

Materials Engineering

Select materials based on:

- Corrosion and erosion
- Temperature and pressure
- Chemical compatibility

Codes & Standards Compliance

Ensure compliance with:

- ASME (Section VIII, B31.3, etc.)
- API, ISO, EN, or local codes

Piping Design Support

- Review piping layouts, isometrics, and stress analysis
- Ensure proper support, flexibility, and expansion allowance

Plant Layout & Constructability

Ensure equipment spacing for:

- Maintenance and access
- Safety and escape routes
- Review plot plans and 3D models
- Minimize vibration, thermal stress, and clash issues
- Resolve field issues (fit-up problems, clashes, substitutions)
- Review installation methods for heavy equipment
- Ensure correct alignment of rotating equipment

Commissioning

- Support equipment pre-commissioning
- Troubleshoot mechanical problems (leaks, vibration, overheating)
- Verify performance against design conditions
