Job Description – Plant Operator (Biomass Pellet Plant) Department : Operations / Production Job Summary The Plant Operator will be responsible for operating and monitoring biomass pellet plant machinery in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs). The role involves ensuring smooth plant operations, maintaining production efficiency, monitoring equipment performance, and adhering to safety and housekeeping standards. Key Responsibilities
- Operate plant machinery and equipment as per established SOPs.
- Monitor critical production parameters including:
- Temperature
- Moisture levels
- Motor load/current
- Pellet quality
- Perform start-up and shutdown activities of plant equipment safely and efficiently.
- Ensure continuous material flow through conveyors, screw feeders, and hoppers.
- Check raw material quality and moisture content before processing.
- Conduct regular inspection of bearings, belts, chains, gearboxes, and motors.
- Coordinate with maintenance and electrical teams during equipment breakdowns or operational issues.
- Maintain proper housekeeping in the plant area and ensure prevention of dust accumulation and fire hazards.
- Record hourly production data, machine performance, and downtime details accurately.
- Follow all fire safety, operational safety, and company compliance guidelines.
- Immediately report any abnormalities, breakdowns, or unsafe conditions to the Shift In-Charge. Required Skills & Competencies
- Knowledge of biomass pellet manufacturing process.
- Understanding of rotary dryer, hammer mill, and pellet mill operations.
- Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read gauges, meters, and instrument readings.
- Good coordination and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in rotational shifts and under plant operating conditions. Educational Qualification
- ITI / Diploma / 12th Pass Preferred Experience
- Experience in biomass pellet plants, manufacturing plants, or process industries will be preferred. Working Conditions
