Job Title: Naval Architect / Naval Architectural Designer Department: Design & Engineering Job Summary We are seeking a competent and detail-oriented Naval Architect to support the design, analysis, and development of ships and marine structures. The role involves vessel design, stability calculations, structural analysis, preparation of drawings, and coordination with cross-functional teams to ensure safe, efficient, and regulatory-compliant shipbuilding projects. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare concept, basic, and detailed design of vessels and marine structures
- Develop GA (General Arrangement), lines plan, and hull form design
- Perform stability calculations, hydrostatics, and weight estimation
- Conduct structural strength and scantling calculations as per classification society rules
- Prepare technical drawings and 3D models using CAD software
- Carry out resistance, powering, and performance analysis
- Ensure designs comply with Class, IMO, and statutory regulations
- Coordinate with production, outfitting, and engineering teams for design execution
- Support plan approval process with classification societies and clients
- Prepare design documentation, reports, and technical specifications
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and troubleshooting
- Provide in office technical support during construction and trials Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of naval architecture principles and ship design
- Proficiency in design tools (AutoCAD, Rhino, Maxsurf, NAPA, ANSYS, or equivalent)
- Understanding of Classification Rules (ABS, DNV, IRS, LR, BV, etc.)
- Knowledge of stability software and calculations
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and standards
- Strong coordination and communication skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy Qualification & Experience
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Naval Architecture / Marine Engineering
- 2–8 years of experience in ship design or shipbuilding industry (experience level can be adjusted)
- Experience in commercial vessels, offshore structures, or defense projects preferred Preferred
- Experience in shipyard or EPC environment
- Knowledge of FEM/FEA analysis
- Familiarity with international maritime regulations
- Experience in project coordination Advantages
