Job Description: Production Supervisor (Fabrication Manufacturing Industry) Position Title Production Supervisor – Fabrication Department : Production / Manufacturing Reports To Production Manager / Plant Manager Location : Vellanaipatti ( Near Kalapatti ) Position Summary : The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily fabrication and manufacturing operations to ensure production targets, quality standards, safety requirements, and delivery schedules are achieved. The role involves supervising shop-floor personnel, coordinating fabrication activities, optimizing resource utilization, maintaining productivity, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Key ResponsibilitiesProduction ManagementPlan, organize, and supervise daily fabrication and production activities.
- Monitor production schedules and ensure timely completion of manufacturing orders.
- Coordinate workflow between fabrication, welding, machining, assembly, and finishing processes.
- Ensure efficient utilization of manpower, machinery, materials, and equipment.
- Monitor production output and take corrective actions to meet production targets.
- Team LeadershipLead, motivate, and supervise production operators, welders, fitters, fabricators, and technicians.
- Allocate work assignments and monitor employee performance.
- Conduct shift briefings and communicate production priorities.
- Identify training needs and support skill development of team members.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Quality AssuranceEnsure fabrication activities comply with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Coordinate with the Quality Control team to address non-conformities.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions to minimize defects and rework.
- Maintain production records and quality documentation.
- Safety & ComplianceEnforce compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular workplace safety inspections and toolbox talks.
- Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Investigate incidents and implement corrective measures.
- Maintain compliance with applicable industry regulations and standards.
- Equipment & Maintenance CoordinationMonitor equipment performance and coordinate preventive maintenance activities.
- Report machine breakdowns and work with the maintenance team to minimize downtime.
- Ensure fabrication tools, jigs, fixtures, and equipment are properly maintained.
- Inventory & Material ManagementCoordinate material availability with the stores and procurement departments.
- Monitor material consumption and reduce wastage.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of raw materials and finished products.
- Continuous ImprovementIdentify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, quality, and cost control.
- Support Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and other operational excellence initiatives.
- Analyze production data and recommend process improvements.
- QualificationsEducationDiploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience3–8 years of experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience with structural fabrication, sheet metal fabrication, welding, or heavy engineering operations is advantageous.
- Technical SkillsAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings and fabrication specifications.
- Knowledge of fabrication processes, welding techniques, cutting operations, and assembly methods.
- Familiarity with production planning and manufacturing workflows.
- Understanding of quality management systems and inspection procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems.
