Role Overview The Operational Finance role focuses on driving financial discipline across business operations, ensuring accurate reporting, cost control, working capital management, and supporting business decision-making through financial insights. This role will drive financial control and discipline across distributor operations, ensuring efficient working capital management, strong control over secondary sales, schemes, and trade spends, while partnering closely with sales and supply chain teams. Key Responsibilities 1. Financial Operations & Control
- Distributor & Channel Finance Management
- Oversee day-to-day financial operations including invoicing, collections, and payments
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, SOPs, and company policies
- Monitor and improve financial processes for efficiency and accuracy
· Monitor primary vs secondary sales and ensure alignment
- Track distributor profitability, margins, and ROI
- Review credit limits and financial health of distributors
- Manage distributor claims, incentives, and scheme settlements Trade Schemes & Commercial Control
- Validate and control trade schemes, discounts, and promotional spends
- Ensure proper accounting and provisioning for schemes
- Prevent revenue leakage through strong checks on claims and payouts
- Analyze ROI on schemes and sales promotions 2. Working Capital Management
- Manage receivables, payables, and inventory cycles
- Track and reduce debtor days and optimize cash flows
- Coordinate with business teams to ensure timely collections
- Drive collections and reduce debtor days across distributors
- Monitor stock levels at distributor points to avoid overstocking/stock-outs
- Optimize inventory holding and liquidation of slow-moving/near-expiry stock
- Ensure timely reconciliation of receivables and advances 3. Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist in preparation of annual budgets and rolling forecasts
- Monitor actual performance vs budget and analyze variances
- Provide actionable insights to business stakeholders 4. MIS & Reporting
- Prepare monthly MIS reports with detailed analysis
- Track key financial and operational KPIs
- Support management with dashboards and decision-making inputs
- Prepare daily/weekly/monthly MIS on sales, collections, and inventory
- Track key KPIs: secondary sales, stock cover days, expiry, and returns
- Provide insights on region-wise performance, product mix, and margins
- Support management with actionable dashboards 5. Sales & Operations Partnering
- Work closely with operations, sales, and procurement teams
- Provide financial inputs for pricing, cost optimization, and profitability
- Support current initiatives, projects, and cost-saving measures
- Work closely with sales teams to drive target achievement with financial discipline
- Support pricing decisions, margin analysis, and new product launches
- Coordinate with supply chain for demand planning and stock allocation 6. Compliance & Audit Support
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements
- Assist in internal and external audits
- Maintain proper documentation and audit trails
- Ensure adherence to SOPs for billing, collections, and scheme payouts
- Conduct periodic distributor audits and stock verifications
- Strengthen internal controls to mitigate leakages and fraud risks
- Support statutory and internal audits Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of financial statements and operational metrics
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Strong understanding of FMCG distribution and channel finance
- Hands-on experience with high-volume transactions and field operations
- Strong Excel and ERP skills (SAP preferred)
- Analytical thinking with commercial acumen
- Ability to work closely with sales teams and handle field-level challenges Key KPIs
