: OpenShift Infrastructure Expert Role summary The OpenShift Infrastructure Expert is responsible for designing, building, securing, and operating Red Hat OpenShift platforms across on-premises, private cloud, and hybrid cloud environments. This role focuses on the infrastructure layer behind OpenShift, including compute, networking, storage, cluster installation, scaling, upgrade strategy, resilience, and platform governance. Key responsibilities
- Design and implement enterprise-grade OpenShift infrastructure for production workloads across datacenter and hybrid cloud environments.
- Plan cluster topology, node sizing, capacity, high availability, and disaster recovery for control plane and worker nodes.
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain OpenShift clusters, ensuring platform stability and lifecycle compliance.
- Manage infrastructure dependencies including DNS, load balancers, ingress, certificates, firewalls, proxies, and identity integration.
- Build and optimize storage and persistent volume strategies for stateful and stateless workloads, including integration with enterprise storage platforms.
- Define observability and operational practices for cluster health, logs, events, alerts, and performance management.
- Automate provisioning, configuration, and operational tasks using Ansible, Terraform, scripting, and Infrastructure as Code practices.
- Collaborate with application, DevOps, security, and network teams to onboard workloads and improve platform reliability.
- Troubleshoot complex issues across Kubernetes, OpenShift, Linux, networking, storage, and cluster operators.
- Create architecture standards, build documents, runbooks, SOPs, and support models for platform operations. Required skills
- Robust hands-on experience with Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform administration and operations in enterprise environments.
- Deep knowledge of Kubernetes architecture and OpenShift cluster components, including nodes, operators, ingress, authentication, and workload scheduling.
- Strong infrastructure background in Linux administration, virtualization, server provisioning, and enterprise platform support.
- Solid knowledge of RHEL or RHCOS, container runtimes, system services, patching, and OS-level troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts such as DNS, routing, TCP/IP, reverse proxies, VLANs, load balancing, and network security as applied to OpenShift deployments.
- Experience with storage architecture, persistent volumes, CSI drivers, and infrastructure sizing for OpenShift clusters.
- Hands-on experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, shell scripting, or Python.
- Experience in monitoring and troubleshooting cluster health, logs, alerts, and node-level failures.
- Ability to support production change management, patching, upgrades, backup, and recovery planning for critical environments. Preferred skills
- Experience with OpenShift on bare metal, VMware, or public cloud platforms.
- Familiarity with OpenShift virtualization, service mesh, pipelines, and security tooling.
- Exposure to enterprise authentication and security integrations such as LDAP, SSO, secrets management, and policy controls.
- Experience in regulated industries such as banking, financial services, telecom, or healthcare where uptime, auditability, and security are critical.
- Red Hat certifications such as EX280, OpenShift Administration, RHCSA, RHCE, or related infrastructure credentials. Experience profile
- 6+ years of infrastructure engineering or platform engineering experience.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Kubernetes or OpenShift in production environments.
