Vacancy: Production / Operations Manager (Durg- Chhattisgarh, India) Experience: 10 Years to 12 Years Industry: Automotive / Mass Manufacturing **What will you do? ** Role Overview We are hiring a high-potential Production / Operations Manager to lead operations of a manufacturing unit with 100+ workforce. This role is positioned as a leadership pipeline for Plant Head, and will progressively take on strategic, operational, and people leadership responsibilities along with driving solid integration between production and supply chain functions to ensure efficient planning, cost optimization, and seamless material flow. The ideal candidate should not only manage current operations efficiently but also demonstrate the capability to own the entire plant P&L;, culture, and long-term growth Key Responsibilities Current Responsibilities (Operational Leadership)
- Lead end-to-end plant operations including production, maintenance, and quality
- Manage 100+ manpower, including supervisors and frontline leaders
- Drive production efficiency, cost control, and on-time delivery
- Implement lean manufacturing and manpower optimization initiatives
- Ensure seamless execution across multiple process flows
- Collaborate with supply chain, planning, and procurement for uninterrupted operations
- Ensure strict adherence to factory, statutory, and safety compliance norms
- Drive integrated production planning in alignment with supply chain to ensure optimal inventory levels and uninterrupted production flow
- Identify and implement cost optimization opportunities across procurement, inventory holding, and production processes Future Responsibilities (Plant Leadership Readiness)
- Take ownership of plant-level performance metrics (OEE, cost, output, quality)
- Drive operational strategy and capacity planning for future growth
- Build and develop a strong second line of leadership (supervisors & line managers)
- Lead cross-functional alignment across HR, Finance, SCM, and EHS
- Prepare for full P&L; ownership and plant-level decision-making
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and safety excellence
- Represent plant operations in leadership discussions and business reviews
- Drive end-to-end integration of production and supply chain strategy
- Strengthening S&OP; (Sales & Operations Planning) and long-term planning capabilities Key Skills: Plant Operations Management Production and Inventory Management Lean Manufacturing (Kaizen, TPM, 5S) OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement Manpower Management Shopfloor & Supervisor Leadership Cost Optimization & Budgeting Supply Chain Coordination & Production Planning Integration Factory & Statutory Compliance EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) ERP Systems (SAP / Oracle) **Who are we looking for? **
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering/ electrical engineering (mandatory)
- 10+ years of experience in automotive / high-volume manufacturing
- Proven track record of managing large shopfloor teams
- Strong experience in handling supervisors and multi-layer team structures
- Solid understanding of cost structures, budgeting, and productivity improvement
- Hands-on exposure to lean manufacturing, TPM, Six Sigma
- Ability to manage complex, multi-process manufacturing environments
- Strong knowledge of factory compliance, labour laws, and safety regulations (EHS)
- Exposure to production planning aligned with demand forecasting and inventory control.
