The Indian Chef shall be responsible for planning, preparing, and serving nutritious, hygienic, and high-quality Indian meals for students, staff, and guests in the School Mess/Canteen. The role requires maintaining food quality, kitchen hygiene, discipline, and effective kitchen operations in accordance with school standards.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Service
Prepare a variety of Indian vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes for breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner. Ensure timely preparation and service of meals as per the approved menu. Maintain consistency in taste, quality, and presentation of food. Plan balanced and nutritious meals suitable for students of different age groups. Prepare special meals during school functions, events, and guest visits.
Kitchen Operations
Supervise kitchen assistants and supporting staff. Ensure proper storage and handling of food items and ingredients. Monitor stock levels and inform the administration regarding procurement requirements. Minimize food wastage and maintain cost efficiency.
Hygiene & Safety
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, dining, and storage areas. Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards. Follow proper safety procedures while handling kitchen equipment and appliances. Conduct regular checks on food quality and freshness.
Administration & Coordination
Coordinate with the Mess Manager/Administration regarding menu planning and operational requirements. Maintain discipline and qualified conduct within the kitchen premises. Support the school during camps, special events, and emergency food arrangements.
Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification Diploma/Certificate in Culinary Arts, Food Production, or Hotel Management preferred. Relevant training in Indian cuisine will be an added advantage.
Experience
Minimum 35 years of experience as an Indian Chef in a school, hostel, institutional kitchen, hotel, or large-scale catering setup. Experience in handling bulk cooking operations is preferred.
Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of Indian cuisine and bulk meal preparation. Ability to maintain hygiene and food safety standards. Team handling and kitchen management skills.
