Role & responsibilities :-
- Makes rounds at the beginning of shift, evaluating critical and problem areas acquiring information to liaise with concerned to ensure safe and cost effective nursing care in the evening and night shifts.
- Assumes responsibility of resolving issues bought to her attention by the nursing staff .
- Is available in person during crisis situations in any of the units guiding and supporting the nursing staff on duty.
- Participates in implementing departmental and hospitals policies and procedures, emphasizing infection control practices
- Maintains a safe, comfortable and congenial environment in her/his shift encouraging adherence to set standards and promoting cooperation with other departments.
- Assumes responsibility for skilled and personal growth.
- Recognizes legal implications and responsibilities in the practice of nursing.
- Responds to requests from Nursing, physicians and patients without delay.
- Maintains census and other shift statistics as directed.
- Develops and participates in various professional activities, e.g. staff education and meeting etc.
- Identifies areas that require staff development initiatives based on her/his observations.
- Does incidental teachings for individual or unit based depending on the requirement.
- Participates in educational offerings to ensure ongoing clinical and interpersonal competence
- Collaborates in development, implementation and evaluation of orientation activities
- Maintains open channels of communication for improving nurse welfare
