Description
About the Role We are building next-generation subsurface carbon storage and integrated CCS solutions for industrial decarbonization. This is not a conventional reservoir engineering role. We are looking for a multidisciplinary and highly adaptive Reservoir Engineer who wants to work on frontier-scale subsurface challenges at the intersection of reservoir engineering, carbon storage, geoscience, energy transition, and climate technology. The role is designed for individuals who are motivated by solving technically complex problems, building systems from the ground up, and contributing directly to technologies that may shape the future of industrial decarbonization. As part of an early-stage deep-tech environment, the selected candidate will work across evolving technical domains including reservoir characterization, CO₂ storage evaluation, modelling & simulation, pilot development, subsurface risk analysis, and integrated field planning. The position requires a strong technical foundation combined with systems thinking, intellectual curiosity, execution capability, and the ability to operate effectively within high-uncertainty and fast-evolving project environments. This role is best suited for builders, problem-solvers, and individuals who want their work to have visible technical and strategic impact. What Makes This Role Different
- Opportunity to work on first-of-its-kind CCUS and subsurface storage initiatives
- Direct involvement in pilot-scale project development and real-world deployment planning
- Exposure across geology, petrophysics, geomechanics, geochemistry, reservoir simulation, field development, and techno-commercial strategy
- High ownership environment with meaningful technical responsibility
- Opportunity to contribute beyond rigid role boundaries and help shape technical workflows, systems, and long-term strategy
- Fast learning environment with exposure to multidisciplinary subsurface engineering challenges
- Opportunity to work closely with founders, technical leadership, research institutions, and industrial stakeholders Key Responsibilities
- Subsurface evaluation, and integrated technical studies
- Working with multidisciplinary datasets and contributing to interpretation, modelling, and engineering workflows
- Reservoir characterization, simulation, field development, and subsurface assessment activities
- Assisting in project planning, technical validation, operational workflows, and execution support
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including geology, geophysics, petrophysics, drilling, geomechanics, geochemistry, and environmental domains
- Contributing to technical problem-solving, workflow development, and engineering decision-making processes
- Supporting research, innovation, technology evaluation, and development of emerging subsurface and energy-transition solutions
- Participating in technical documentation, feasibility studies, presentations, strategic discussions, and proposal development
- Exploring and integrating modern tools, digital workflows, AI/data-driven approaches, and optimization methodologies where relevant
- Taking ownership of tasks and contributing beyond conventional role boundaries when required in a fast-evolving startup environment Desired Personality & Work Style
- Multidisciplinary and intellectually curious
- Comfortable operating across evolving scopes and technical domains
- Entrepreneurial and solution-oriented
- Capable of independent thinking and rapid learning
- Comfortable working in ambiguity and early-stage project environments
- Strong in systems thinking rather than siloed execution
- Able to bridge technical depth with practical implementation
- Cooperative across scientific, engineering, operational, and business teams
- Willing to contribute beyond conventional role boundaries when required What Makes This Role Unique This role is designed for professionals who want to work at the intersection of:
- reservoir engineering,
- carbon storage,
- energy transition,
- subsurface innovation,
- and emerging climate technologies. Skills and Qualifications
- Master s or Dual Degree or PhD from a recognized university in petroleum /chemical/ mechanical/other relevant engineering disciplines
- Minimum 3 years of experience in computational or reservoir simulation
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the upstream oil and gas industry
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate critical operating parameters through data and trend analysis
- For petroleum engineers, knowledge of basic reservoir engineering concepts including reservoir simulation, analytical performance prediction, and economics metrics
- Good fundamental understanding/experiences in fluid mechanics, porous media flow, computational fluid dynamics
- Hands-on experience using proprietary or vendor engineering analysis tools and software applications appropriate to the corresponding engineering disciplines
- Experience in data science, machine learning will be an added advantage
- Mentorship and team leadership experience will be an added advantage Preferred Qualifications / Experience
- Experience in computational and/or data science (e.g., computational fluid dynamics, 3D modeling, machine learning, and optimization)
- For petroleum engineers, experienced using reservoir (flow) simulation software such as Eclipse, Petrel RE, Intersect, tNavigator, CMG or equivalent is required
- Experience in one or more programming languages such as MATLAB/C/Python will be an advantage
- Experience working in Tableau and Power Bi will be an advantage
- Experience in working with problems related to EOR, reservoir engineering, geomechanics, fracture mechanics is preferred.
