An assistant restaurant manager ensures daily operations run smoothly by supervising staff, managing inventory, and maintaining high customer satisfaction. They bridge the gap between front-of-house (FOH) and back-of-house (BOH) teams while supporting the general manager with administrative and financial duties. Key Responsibilities
- Staff Supervision & Development: Train new hires, organize employee schedules, and evaluate team performance. They also handle minor disciplinary actions and mediate workplace conflicts.
- Daily Operations: Ensure workflow is running smoothly, enforce company policies and procedures, and monitor workplace safety.
- Customer Service: Serve as the first escalation point for complex customer inquiries, complaints, and requests to ensure overall satisfaction.
- Administrative & Financial Support: Assist in maintaining budgets, managing inventory levels, and preparing reports for upper management Core responsibilities include: Staff & Shift Management
- Scheduling: Create staff shift schedules, assign table sections, and manage labor costs to meet business demands.
- Training & Onboarding: Assist in hiring, training, and mentoring new team members to ensure they uphold service standards.
- Performance Oversight: Supervise daily operations, conduct staff evaluations, and provide real-time coaching Customer Service & Operations
- Guest Relations: Address and resolve customer questions, requests, and complaints in a swift, professional manner.
- Quality Control: Monitor food and beverage presentation, taste, and overall service quality.
- Floor Presence: Lead the opening and closing processes, ensuring the dining room and bar are fully prepped for service. Administration & Financial Duties
- Inventory Control: Track stock levels of ingredients, utensils, and cleaning supplies; place orders to prevent shortages.
- Cash Management: Balance cash registers, manage billing, and ensure accurate financial reporting at the end of shifts.
- Payroll Processing: Assist in processing payroll, managing employee hours, and keeping detailed records of income and expenses Health, Safety & Compliance
- Regulations: Ensure the entire restaurant complies with local health, food safety, and alcohol licensing regulations.
