They are the foundation for reliable AI execution: state, context, permissions, workflow logic, action history, decisioning, and operational control.The RoleWe are hiring a Founding Backend Engineer to architect, build, and scale the AI-first platform behind Harness.You will work directly with the founders and operators to turn complex brokerage workflows into reliable backend systems and AI-powered products. You will not be handed polished specs. You will be expected to understand the business, talk to users, reason from first principles, design the architecture, ship quickly, and measure whether your work moved the business.Your work will directly impact producer productivity, quote speed, placement quality, customer experience, and revenue growth.What We’re Looking For3–7 years of strong backend engineering experienceStrong proficiency in Python, Node.Js, Java, Go, or similarExperience building AI agents, workflow automation, or LLM-powered productsStrong use of AI coding tools like Cursor, Claude Code, ChatGPT, or similarStrong understanding of backend architecture, APIs, services, queues, and databasesExperience with PostgreSQL or another relational databaseAbility to design clean data models for complex business workflowsExperience building production systems end-to-endStrong debugging and system design skillsAbility to operate without detailed specsFirst-principles thinkingAbility to talk to non-technical users and translate workflows into softwareHigh ownership, high agency, and strong taste for simple systems Apply on Kit Job: kitjob.in/job/4lqim1
