Job Description: Senior Hyper-V Virtualization Engineer (Remote) Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Hyper-V Virtualization Engineer to lead and support enterprise virtualization initiatives, with a robust focus on migrating environments from VMware to Microsoft Hyper-V. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in virtualization technologies, enterprise networking, SAN/storage infrastructure, and hybrid data-centre operations. This is a fully remote role requiring excellent technical problem-solving skills, hands-on infrastructure experience, and the ability to work independently in complex enterprise environments. Role Title Senior Hyper-V Virtualization Engineer Location: Remote Employment Type: Full-Time / Contract (customize as needed) Key Responsibilities VMware to Hyper-V Migration
- Lead and execute end-to-end migrations from VMware vSphere/ESXi environments to Microsoft Hyper-V.
- Assess existing VMware infrastructure and design migration strategies with minimal downtime.
- Plan, test, validate, and document migration activities.
- Utilize migration tools and methodologies for VM conversion and workload transition.
- Troubleshoot migration-related performance and compatibility issues. Hyper-V Infrastructure Administration
- Design, deploy, configure, and maintain enterprise Hyper-V environments.
- Manage Hyper-V clusters, failover clustering, live migration, replication, and high availability.
- Configure and optimize virtual networking, virtual switches, and storage connectivity.
- Monitor virtualization performance, capacity, and availability.
- Implement best practices for scalability, redundancy, and disaster recovery. Networking & Infrastructure
- Work closely with network teams to configure:
- VLANs
- NIC teaming
- Virtual switches
- SDN concepts
- Load balancing
- IP addressing and routing
- Troubleshoot latency, throughput, and connectivity issues in virtualized environments.
- Ensure secure network segmentation and virtualization networking compliance. SAN & Storage Administration
- Configure and support SAN/NAS storage solutions.
- Manage storage provisioning for Hyper-V clusters. System Optimization & Support
- Perform infrastructure health checks and proactive monitoring.
- Analyze system bottlenecks and improve virtualization efficiency.
- PowerShell scripting and automation
- Create technical documentation, SOPs, and architecture diagrams.
- Support patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management activities.
