Sr. Design Engineer (R & D) (Machine Building), Mira Road

Job description
- Design and develop new machines, modules, or features based on functional requirements and technical objectives
- Develop concepts based on application understanding, not just CAD execution
- Perform detailed engineering calculations like:
- Torque, power, and load analysis
- Shaft and bearing selection
- Structural strength and deflection
- Tolerance stack-up analysis
- Prepare and own:
- GA drawings
- 3D models
- Manufacturing drawings
- BOM accuracy and structure
- Perform design validation using:
- Engineering calculations (mandatory)
- Material and manufacturing selection
- Design analysis and logical validation
- Take ownership of design decisions and justify them with engineering reasoning
- Work closely with:
- Automation team for system integration
- Control logic understanding (will have an added advantage)
- Production team to ensure DFM/DFA compliance
- Participate in machine trials, debugging, and root cause analysis
- Drive VAVE activities for performance improvement and cost optimization
- Handle design modifications (DMRs) with proper engineering validation
- Participate in design reviews, SOP adherence, and continuous improvement of design processes
- Guide and mentor junior engineers (not limited to drafting supervision)
- Interact with customers when required to understand application challenges and improve designs Technical Skills:
- Strong fundamentals in:
- Machine design
- Mechanics and strength of materials
- Material selection and manufacturing processes
- Proven experience in:
- Mechanical design calculations
- Selection of bought-out components
- Machine structure design and analysis
- Proficiency in SolidWorks (design intent, assemblies, not just modelling)
- Good understanding of GD&T; and tolerance application
- Knowledge of ISO / ASME standards
- Experience in ERP / BOM structuring
- Exposure to DFM, DFA, and VAVE methodologies Qualification: B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering Job Type: Full-time Pay: ₹1,100,000.00
