Head-Design & R&D (Cables) (Delhi)

Job Description

Role Overview:

Lead design and R&D; for power cables, ensuring development, customization, and compliance with Indian and international standards. Act as the technical bridge between factory operations, customers, and management.

Key Responsibilities:


- Lead design and development of HT/LT cables as per IS, IEC, BS, and other international specifications

- Develop new cable designs based on specific customer requirements, applications, and tender specifications

- Interpret technical drawings, BOQs, and tender documents to create compliant designs

- Drive product innovation, material optimization, and cost-effective design solutions

- Coordinate closely with production, quality, and procurement for smooth execution

- Support tendering team with technical inputs, design validation, and documentation

- Handle customer technical discussions, approvals, and design clarifications

- Ensure all designs meet regulatory, performance, and safety standards

- Lead testing protocols, type tests, and certification processes

Requirements Requirements:


- 15+ years of experience in cable design (HT/LT mandatory)

- Strong expertise in international standards (IEC, BS, ASTM, etc.)

- Proven ability to design both standard and customized cables

- Deep understanding of materials, insulation systems, and manufacturing processes

Leadership & Interpersonal:


- Strong leadership capability to guide cross-functional teams

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

- Ability to manage stakeholders across factory, sales, and external clients

Preferred:


- Experience in export-oriented design requirements

- Exposure to high-specification cables (EHV, specialty, or project-based designs)
