Bridge Counsels LLP provides Fractional and External General Counsel services to startups, growth-stage companies, mid-sized businesses, and multinational corporations across India, Southeast Asia, and other global markets. We work closely with businesses on commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, governance, data protection, technology law, AI governance, transactions, disputes, and strategic legal risk management. Our approach combines legal expertise with commercial understanding, enabling organisations to access senior legal support without the overhead of a full-time in-house legal team. ROLE DESCRIPTION Bridge Counsels is inviting applications for the role of AI Governance Research Intern. This is an on-site internship based in New Delhi. The role is intended for third, fourth, or fifth-year law students with a robust interest in technology law, artificial intelligence, data privacy, digital regulation, and legal research. The intern will support the firm’s AI governance and technology law practice by conducting focused legal and policy research, tracking regulatory developments, and assisting in the preparation of research notes, briefing materials, client-facing summaries, and internal knowledge resources. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES The intern will assist with:
- Conducting legal and policy research on AI governance, technology regulation, data privacy, cybersecurity, and digital laws.
- Tracking developments in AI regulation across India and key global jurisdictions, including the EU, UK, US, Singapore, and other relevant markets.
- Researching issues relating to responsible AI, algorithmic accountability, bias, transparency, explainability, data protection, platform governance, and ethical AI deployment.
- Preparing research notes, legal updates, briefing papers, policy summaries, and client-facing materials.
- Assisting in the development of AI governance frameworks, compliance checklists, risk matrices, and advisory documents.
- Supporting thought leadership, newsletters, articles, and internal research initiatives relating to AI, data, privacy, and emerging technology regulation.
- Collaborating with the Bridge Counsels team on client advisory work involving AI-enabled products, SaaS platforms, and technology businesses. -
ELIGIBILITY / QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate should be:
- A third, fourth, or fifth-year law student enrolled in a five-year integrated law programme.
- Strongly interested in technology law, AI governance, data privacy, cybersecurity, and digital regulation.
- Research-oriented, with the ability to read, analyse, and synthesise legal, regulatory, and policy materials.
- Comfortable preparing structured legal research notes, policy briefs, and formal documentation.
- Able to write clearly, precisely, and professionally.
- Familiar with Indian data protection and technology law developments.
- Familiarity with global AI/privacy frameworks will be an advantage.
