An exciting role, working as part of a growing team, responsible for the early conceptual design through to FEED and detailed design of electrical systems in the energy arena. Actively involved with the specification, and design of Low Voltage (LV) and Medium Voltage (MV) and High Voltage(HV) electrical systems in a CCGT power plant, solar/BESS and onshore and offshore wind. Ensuring secure, continuous, and efficient power generation in compliance with statutory and OEM standards. Responsibilities
- Develop complete LV (≤1 kV) and MV (3.3 kV, 6.6 kV, 11 kV, up to 33 kV) electrical system designs for power plants and renewable energy systems
- Prepare and review Single Line Diagrams (SLD), load lists, and system architecture, understanding the basis fault level and earthing concepts.
- Design auxiliary power systems for generation units and balance-of-plant areas.
- Equipment sizing and selection of MV & LV switchgear creating load lists and understanding fault level requirements, and selecting circuit breaker options (VCB, SF₆, ACB, MCCB),
- Specification and sizing of power & auxiliary transformers, Motors, MCCs, VFDs, soft starters, DG sets, UPS, and battery systems
- Abilit to perform basic hand-calculations for short-circuit, voltage drop, and motor starting.
- Prepare protection logic diagrams, interlocking schemes, and cause & effect matrices.
- Perform Cable sizing and routing for LV & MV power and control cables.
- Design earthing and grounding systems as per standards and soil resistivity.
- Design plant and yard normal and emergency lighting systems.
- Ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE, IS, NEC, utility grid codes, and client specifications.
- Review tender documents, technical specifications, and data sheets.
- Interface with utilities and statutory authorities for approvals.
- Prepare and check Electrical layout drawings, Cable schedules and routing layouts, Equipment datasheets and BOQs
- Support preparation of tender and bid engineering documents.
- Review vendor drawings, calculations, and technical deviations.
- Attend technical meetings with clients, EPC contractors, and OEMs. Desired Capabilities & Skills
- Strong knowledge of LV & MV electrical systems
- Generator, transformer, and motor protection
- Electrical protection schemes
- Knowledge of grid interconnection requirements
- Understanding of SCADA/DCS electrical interfaces
- Familiarity with ETAP / equivalent (preferred) Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Masters degree in electrical engineering
- 8–10 years’ experience in power plant / renewables / energy design consultancy, EPC or OEM
- Design exposure to LV & MV systems in generation plants (Thermal, Gas, Combined Cycle, Renewable Large Plants)
- Experience across engineering phases. BGV:
