Software Developer Intern (Lanka)

About the Role: We are seeking a skilled and motivated Software Engineer intern to join our team and contribute to the development and maintenance of our Hospital Information System (HIS) software. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in PHP-based application development, particularly with the Laravel framework, and a solid understanding of cloud computing technologies. You will play a key role in designing, developing, and optimizing our healthcare software solutions to ensure they meet the needs of hospitals and medical professionals. Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain PHP-based Hospital Information System (HIS) software using the Laravel framework.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, analyze user needs, and deliver high-quality software solutions.
- Develop and integrate modules for patient management, appointment scheduling, billing, electronic health records (EHR), and other healthcare-related functionalities.
- Optimize application performance, scalability, and security to ensure seamless operation in a hospital environment.
- Work with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) to deploy, manage, and scale applications.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software defects and issues in a timely manner.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in PHP, Laravel, cloud computing, and healthcare technology.
- Participate in code reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing to maintain high coding standards.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and data security standards (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR). Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in PHP and Laravel framework for web application development.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) and MVC architecture.
- Experience in developing and deploying applications on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc.).
- Familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery) is a plus.
- Knowledge of RESTful APIs and integration with third-party systems.
- Experience with database management systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.) and query optimization.
- Understanding of healthcare software systems and workflows is highly desirable.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.
- Knowledge of microservices architecture.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
