Production Manager (Technical Operations) (Patalganga)

1. Core Role & Objective To lead all manufacturing activities at the Patalganga plant, ensuring 100% adherence to Class Rules (IRS/DNV/SOLAS) while maintaining high plant efficiency across both Marine OEM and Industrial Bulk Engineering lines. 2. Detailed Scope of Work
- Production Planning & Control (PPC):
* Develop and execute the Master Production Schedule (MPS).
- Balance the high-margin "Marine OEM" queue (Doors/Hatches) with high-volume "Bulk Engineering" fillers (Cable Trays/Racking) to ensure zero machine idle time.
- Class Certification Management:
* Act as the primary technical point of contact for IRS/DNV surveyors during factory audits.
- Lead the fabrication of "First-Article" prototypes for Type-Approval witness testing (pressure tests, fire-rating tests, and structural integrity tests).
- Technical Supervision:
* Directly oversee the operation of the 300T CNC Hydraulic Press and Pro-Arc Plasma gantry.
- Ensure all components meet the 0.05mm tolerance threshold mandated for Naval closures.
- Process Engineering:
* Implement Single-Stroke Forming techniques to eliminate heat-affected zones (HAZ) and reduce manual welding by 40%.
- Establish SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for material handling, CNC setup, and final assembly.
- Lean & Safety (5S):
* Enforce a strict "Audit-Ready" shop floor environment.
- Minimize raw material wastage (scrap) through close coordination with the Naval Architect’s nesting plans.
· Technical Procurement Authority
- Material Specification Control: Define the exact metallurgical requirements (e.g., Grade A, DH36, SS316L) for every project based on IRS/DNV rules.
- Technical Vendor Audit: Conduct technical "Sanity Checks" on recent steel stockholders or specialized component vendors (gaskets, glass, insulation).
- Inward Quality Assurance (IQA): Physically verify that the Heat Numbers and Batch Codes stamped on the arriving raw material perfectly match the Mill Test Certificates (MTC).
- Approval Authority: Final sign-off on the "Technical Suitability" of a vendor before the Commercial PO is released. 3. Minimum Experience & Qualifications
- Education: B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, or Marine Engineering.
- Experience: 8–10 years of experience in a specialized manufacturing environment (Marine OEM, Defense Fabrication, or Aerospace).
- Industry Background: Must have worked in a facility governed by International Classification Societies (IRS, DNV, LRS, or ABS). 4. Mandatory Technical Skills & Certifications
- Certifications: Lean Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt) or ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor certification is highly preferred.
- Tooling Knowledge: Expert-level understanding of CNC Plasma programming, VMC tool offsets, and heavy hydraulic press dies.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep familiarity with SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) requirements for A60/B15 fire-rated closures and watertight integrity. 5. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Certification Success: Achieving full IRS/DNV Type-Approval within the 9-month gestation window.
- Wastage Control: Maintaining raw material scrap rates below 5%.
- OTIF Rate: 100% "On-Time, In-Full" delivery to PSU and Private shipyards.
- Rejection Rate: Maintaining a shop-floor rejection rate of less than 1% through rigorous in-process checks. 6. Expected Salary & Reporting
- Monthly Salary: ₹40-70,000/-
