Key Responsibilities of a Quality Manager Establish, implement, and maintain quality management systems

Oversee the lab’s overall quality system and ensure it meets NABL and ISO 15189 standards. Plan, conduct, and review internal audits

Identify quality gaps, non-conformities, and continuous improvement opportunities. Follow up on Management Review Meeting (MRM) action points

Ensure that minutes of MRM are acted upon and closed in a timely manner. Handle non-conformities effectively

Ensure any NCs are addressed promptly, root cause is analyzed, and action is taken. Communicate quality goals across all levels

Make sure staff at every level understands quality policies, lab objectives, and customer expectations. Control documentation and versioning

Implement structured changes in quality documents and ensure timely distribution. Monitor and improve quality systems

Periodically evaluate lab processes to ensure they’re functioning optimally. Review lab performance and testing accuracy

Monitor LJ charts, calibration data, and overall testing precision. Maintain all technical and quality records

Ensure secure and retrievable record-keeping as per NABL guidelines. Staff training and development

Identify training needs and ensure that all staff are regularly trained on quality protocols. Coordinate with external agencies for EQA/PT

Manage participation in external proficiency testing programs. Complaint management and problem-solving

Address staff concerns, errors, or client complaints effectively. Maintain obsolete documents for reference (for at least 2 years)

Ensure document history is preserved for audits and traceability.
