Progress Database Administrator (Pune)

About Position:

We are looking for an experienced Progress Database Administrator (DBA) with 5–8 years of experience to manage, maintain, and optimize database environments. The role involves handling QAD database systems, ensuring system performance, and supporting cloud-based operations in a 24/7 environment.

What You'll Do:
- Monitor database and system performance and recommend improvements
- Perform root cause analysis for system issues and implement preventive measures
- Handle system downtime and performance degradation on priority
- Maintain and monitor cloud-based database environments (24/7 support model)
- Create, test, and maintain backup and recovery plans
- Automate and script routine database tasks using Python/Bash
- Document processes, SOPs, and deployment instructions
- Coordinate with customers and internal teams for issue resolution
- Support change management and deployment activities (CAB coordination)
- Monitor database health and generate performance reports
- Implement best practices for database administration and optimization

Expertise You'll Bring:
- 5–8 years of experience as a Database Administrator
- Solid expertise in Progress Database (must have)
- Experience with SQL Server, MySQL, MariaDB, AWS RDS
- Knowledge of Linux and Windows environments
- Scripting experience using Python and Bash
- Familiarity with MongoDB (advantageous)
- Strong troubleshooting and logical problem-solving skills
- Experience working in 24/7 support environments
- Good understanding of software development lifecycle
- Strong communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders
