4 Hi Fixed Backup Leveller high-precision flattening unit used in Cut to Length CTL machines for processing steel & non-ferrous metal coils. It consists of two sets of work rolls supported by backup rolls in a 4-high (4 Hi) configuration, designed to provide superior leveling accuracy & stable performance for wide range of material thicknesses.

Fixed Backup design means that the backup rolls remain stationary, providing constant roll support & rigidity ideal for medium to heavy gauge materials requiring consistent flatness under high tension. This system commonly used in steel service centers, automotive component production & heavy fabrication industries where precision-flattened sheets essential.

“4 Hi Fixed Backup” Mean
2 Work Rolls (Upper & Lower): Directly contact & flatten the material strip.
2 Backup Roll Assemblies: Support the work rolls from above & below to prevent rebound.

Fixed backup design ensures the backup rolls remain in constant position, maintaining uniform pressure distribution across the strip width, even during heavy leveling operations.

Working Principle
Coil Feeding: The metal strip enters through the entry pinch rolls.
Flattening Process:
The strip passes through alternating upper & lower work rolls.
Each roll exerts controlled bending & reverse bending forces.
The fixed backup rolls prevent deflection, ensuring even roll pressure.
Straightened Output: Strip exits completely flat, ready for measuring & cutting in the CTL line.

This continuous bending & reverse bending remove internal stresses & coil set, resulting in perfectly leveled sheets.
