Role Overview Astrobase is looking for a highly hands-on Stage Designer / Integration Engineer with deep experience in stage-level rocket hardware integration, assembly, and mechanical systems realization. This is not a managerial oversight role. We are specifically looking for engineers who are still actively involved in design execution, shop-floor integration, troubleshooting, assembly sequencing, and hardware realization. The ideal candidate should have end-to-end exposure to internally developed aerospace or propulsion hardware environments and should be capable of translating stage-level design intent into successful physical integration on the assembly floor Experience Required
- Strict preferred range: 10–15 years
- Candidates with 12–15 years are acceptable only if they are still actively hands-on
- 20+ years experience profiles focused primarily on supervision/management will not be considered Key Responsibilities Stage Design & Mechanical Systems
- Lead stage-level functional mechanical system design, realization, and testing for LOX/Methane launch vehicle stages
- Design and realize liquid propulsion stage systems including:
- Fill & Drain systems
- Feed systems
- Pressurization systems
- Vent & Relief systems
- POGO suppression systems
- Slosh control systems
- Design structural assemblies for mounting and handling:
- Valves
- Avionics packages
- Umbilical systems
- Stage components Stage Integration & Assembly
- Drive hands-on integration of mechanical, fluidic, and electrical subsystems
- Perform assembly, fitment, subsystem integration, and line build-up activities on the shop floor
- Set up and stabilize integration lines from scratch, including:
- Process definition
- Tooling setup
- Integration sequence planning
- Assembly workflows
- Troubleshoot integration and hardware issues directly at the bench and assembly floor Cross-functional Collaboration
- Interface with:
- Fluid system analysis teams
- Structural analysis teams
- Vehicle mechanical design teams
- QA/QC teams
- Avionics teams
- Manufacturing teams
- Coordinate closely with quality and manufacturing teams to close non-conformances during integration
- Support developmental testing and stage-level realization activities Documentation & Execution
- Prepare design documentation and development execution inputs
- Translate design intent into manufacturable and assembly-ready hardware configurations
- Support verification, validation, and testing activities throughout the hardware lifecycle Mandatory Skills & Requirements
- Strong experience in stage design and stage-level integration of rocket or propulsion hardware
- Hands-on exposure to custom internally developed hardware environments
- Active shop-floor experience involving:
- Assembly
- Fitment
- Integration
- Line build-up
- Hardware troubleshooting
- Experience setting up integration lines and assembly processes from scratch
- Strong understanding of:
- Liquid propulsion systems
- Cryogenic systems
- Aerospace-grade mechanical assemblies
- QA/QC standards and aerospace verification protocols
- Experience working with cross-functional engineering and production teams Preferred Skills
- Exposure to launch vehicle or stage assembly environments such as:
- ISRO (VSSC / ISAC / IPRC / Sriharikota)
- Brahmos Aerospace
- HAL Aerospace Divisions
- Cryogenic or liquid propulsion hardware integration experience is strongly preferred
- Knowledge of:
