Deputy Head - PGP (Rourkela)

Hiring: Deputy Head – PGP Operations Employment Type: Full-time Industry: Steel / Pellet Plant / Manufacturing Location: Raurkela Odisha Job Objective : We are seeking an experienced and result-oriented Assistant Operations Head to support and execute operational activities of the PGP plant. The role is responsible for ensuring smooth process flow, production efficiency, gas quality compliance, cost optimization, manpower management, and adherence to safety and IMS standards. Key Responsibilities : Process Monitoring & Control
- Monitor and report daily power consumption and process performance to the PGP Operations Head
- Ensure process parameters are maintained within specified limits for stable gas production
- Monitor RM circuit run-time and overall process efficiency
- Identify process abnormalities and ensure timely corrective actions
- Ensure SCADA alarms and process deviation alerts are functioning effectively Production Operations
- Support daily production planning based on gas requirements and plant targets
- Ensure optimum utilization of manpower and raw material availability
- Coordinate with operations teams to achieve uninterrupted gas supply for Pellet operations Quality Management
- Coordinate with Pellet process teams to maintain producer gas quality and flow parameters
- Monitor process deviations affecting gas quality and initiate corrective measures
- Ensure adherence to process standards, SOPs, and operational procedures Cost & Resource Optimization
- Monitor operational consumables and utility usage to optimize operational costs
- Ensure proper accounting of operational expenses through ERP systems
- Raise timely indents for operational consumables based on min-max inventory levels Manpower Management
- Participate in shift handover meetings and toolbox talks with shop-floor and CRO teams
- Ensure adequate manpower availability for uninterrupted operations
- Coordinate shift-wise operational activities for smooth plant functioning Safety & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to safety standards and secure operational practices
- Promote a zero accident and zero lost-time injury culture
- Conduct safety observations and monitor compliance with EHS standards
- Ensure proper implementation of 5S and housekeeping practices Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

- B.E. in Metallurgical or Mechanical Engineering
- Experience working as a Process Engineer in a Steel Plant preferred Experience
- 10 years of relevant experience in steel, pellet, or process plant operations Required Skills
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
- Team handling and shop-floor manpower management
- Coordination and operational planning skills
- Understanding of process monitoring and SCADA systems
