Job Purpose
To lead and manage environmental compliance and sustainability functions for mining operations, ensuring strict adherence to statutory and regulatory requirements, effective implementation of environmental management systems, and environmentally responsible mining practices.
Key Responsibilities
· Statutory & Regulatory Compliance
Ensure complete compliance with Environmental Clearance (EC), Forest Clearance (FC), CGWA permissions, Consent to Establish/Operate (CTE/CTO), and CPCB/SPCB guidelines applicable to mining operations.
· Regulatory Liaison & Coordination
Act as the primary liaison with MoEF & CC, PCCF, CGWA, SPCB and other statutory bodies for inspections, approvals, compliance submissions, and regulatory communications related to mining activities.
· Environmental Management Plan (EMP) Implementation
Lead implementation and monitoring of the approved Environmental Management Plan (EMP), including air, water and noise pollution control measures, mine water management, waste handling, greenbelt development, and land reclamation activities.
· Environmental Monitoring, Audits & Reporting
Oversee environmental monitoring programs, facilitate internal and external audits, and ensure timely submission of statutory environmental reports, returns and compliance data to regulatory authorities.
· Project & Mining Regulatory Expertise
Provide environmental inputs for mine planning, expansion projects and statutory approvals, with robust knowledge of EIA/EMP processes, mining regulations, CPCB guidelines and statutory submission requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
Qualification: B.Tech/B.E/ M.Sc / M.Tech in Environmental Science / Environmental Engineering
Experience: 8– 10 years only in coal or metal mining industry.
Key Competencies & Skills
In-depth knowledge of environmental laws applicable to mining
Experience in handling regulatory inspections and audits
Solid coordination, documentation and reporting skills
Leadership and stakeholder management capabilities
