As a Business Analyst in the Eagle Accounting R&D; team, you will work on complex accounting platform problems faced by FinTech and investment management firms around creating, validating, posting, and reporting accounting data with accuracy, control, and auditability. The role requires you to be a self-starter who enjoys working with accounting SMEs, product owners, engineers, QA teams, and client-facing stakeholders to translate real-world investment accounting requirements into clear functional specifications and high-quality product outcomes. You will be primarily working on Eagle Accounting / Eagle STAR accounting functionality, investment accounting data, functional requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, test scenarios, and release documentation. The platform supports accounting workflows such as ledger postings, period close, accruals, income and distributions, tax withholding, rollback/replay scenarios, migrations, enhancements, and new product onboarding. You will also work closely with technical teams using SQL, Jira, Confluence, Git, and Agile delivery practices. What You Will Do
- Within an Agile environment, work with Product Management, accounting SMEs, engineering and QA teams to gather, analyse, document, and refine business and functional requirements for Eagle Accounting capabilities.
- Translate complex investment accounting requirements into clear user stories, functional specifications, acceptance criteria, BRD/FRD-style documentation, release notes, and testable business outcomes.
- Clarify accounting logic around ledger postings, period close, accruals, income, distributions, tax withholding, corporate actions, and data/reporting controls so that engineers can implement accurately.
- Identify gaps, edge cases, regression risks, and control considerations such as late trades, accounting impact, rollback/replay, reprocessing, migration scenarios, and downstream data/reporting impacts.
- Define, review, and validate accounting test scenarios; support QA, triage, debugging, UAT, and defect analysis to ensure delivered functionality produces accurate and auditable accounting results.
- Collaborate with Product Owners and engineering leads across the organization to define scope, priorities, milestones, and deliveries for new functionality, enhancements, migrations, and client-driven accounting needs. This is you:
- You have 5 to 10 years of experience as a Business Analyst, Accounting Analyst, Functional Analyst, or domain SME in investment accounting, asset servicing, fund accounting, or investment management technology.
- Have strong understanding of investment accounting concepts such as general ledger, ledger postings, period close, accruals, income processing, distributions, withholding tax, cash flow impact, and accounting controls.
- Have hands-on experience or robust working knowledge of accounting platforms; experience in Eagle Accounting / Eagle STAR / PACE is strongly preferred, and exposure to InvestOne or similar platforms is an added advantage.
- Have strong SQL and database understanding, with the ability to analyse accounting data, read data models, understand configurations/reports, and support technical teams during issue analysis.
- Have experience working with agile software delivery teams and are comfortable using Jira, Confluence, Git, BRD/FRD documentation, user stories, acceptance criteria, release notes, and test/UAT artifacts.
- Good to have: exposure to fixed income accounting, accrual conventions, amortization methods, business day conventions, corporate actions, derivatives, ETFs, private equities, migrations, platform enhancements, and AI-enabled tools that improve documentation, analysis, and testing productivity.
