Role & responsibilities :- Accountant in civil engineering will be responsible to manages project-specific finances, including job costing, budget tracking, subcontractor payments, and cash flow forecasting. Key duties involve reviewing invoices and purchase orders, ensuring tax compliance (GST/TDS), managing payroll, and producing financial statements using software like Tally Prime or Sage. Key Responsibilities :- 1. Financial Management & Reporting
- Maintain accurate financial records, ledgers, and journals .
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements .
- Monitor cash flow, budgets, and expenditures.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations. 2. Project Accounting
- Track project costs (materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors).
- Prepare job cost reports and profitability analysis.
- Monitor project budgets vs. actual expenses .
- Assist project managers with financial planning and cost control. 3. Billing & Invoicing
- Prepare client invoices based on work progress .
- Verify subcontractor bills and process payments.
- Manage accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding payments. 4. Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Record and process vendor invoices
- Reconcile supplier statements
- Maintain payment schedules and ensure timely disbursements 5. Payroll & Compliance
- Process payroll for site workers and staff
- Ensure compliance with labor laws, GST, TDS, and other statutory requirements (important in India)
- Handle audits and provide required documentation 6. Budgeting & Cost Control
- Assist in preparing project budgets and forecasts
- Identify cost-saving opportunities
- Monitor financial risks in projects 7. Reconciliation & Audit
- Perform bank reconciliations
- Prepare documents for internal and external audits
- Ensure proper documentation of all financial transactions Preferred candidate profile :-
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce ( MBA Finance will be highly preferred)
- Professional certification (CA Inter / CMA / MBA Finance is a plus)
- 2–5+ years of accounting experience (construction industry preferred)
- Solid knowledge of GST, TDS, and Indian taxation
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally, ERP systems)
- Good understanding of project costing and contract accounting
