JOB PROFILE: The Senior IT Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, management, and optimization of enterprise IT infrastructure, including servers, storage systems (SAN/NAS), and advanced network architecture. The role requires deep expertise in Layer 3 networking, cybersecurity, and high- availability systems to ensure reliable and secure IT operations. Designation: Senior IT Engineer Department: Power & Automation Reports to: Department Head Location: Full Time On-Site, Howrah Key Responsibilities: 1. Server & Virtualization Management
- Install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers (Windows/Linux)
- Manage virtualization platforms (VMware / Hyper-V)
- Ensure high availability, backup, and disaster recovery readiness 2. Storage Management (SAN/NAS)
- Design, configure, and manage SAN and NAS storage environments
- Handle storage provisioning, performance tuning, and capacity planning
- Implement backup and data replication strategies 3. Network Architecture & L3 Networking
- Design and manage Layer 2/Layer 3 network infrastructure
- Configure routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, VLANs, inter-VLAN routing)
- Optimize network performance and ensure minimal downtime 4. Network Security & Firewalls
- Configure and manage firewalls (e.g., Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco ASA)
- Implement VPNs, IDS/IPS, and access control policies
- Ensure compliance with cybersecurity best practices 5. Network Monitoring & Management
- Deploy and manage network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios)
- Proactively monitor system health, performance, and security
- Perform root cause analysis and incident resolution 6. Infrastructure Planning & Implementation
- Design scalable and resilient IT infrastructure
- Lead infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and expansion projects
- Ensure system redundancy and business continuity 7. Troubleshooting & Support
- Diagnose complex issues across servers, storage, and networks
- Provide L2/L3 support for critical IT incidents
- Coordinate with vendors for advanced issue resolution 8. Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain detailed documentation of systems, configurations, and processes
- Ensure adherence to IT policies, standards, and audit requirements 9. Leadership & Collaboration
- Mentor junior IT staff and provide technical guidance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science / IT / Electronics or related field.
- Strong knowledge of Enterprise servers, SAN and NAS Storage Systems
- Advanced knowledge of Layer 3 networking (routing, switching, VLANs), TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN technologies
- Hands-on experience with firewall configuration and network security.
- Familiarity with backup solutions and disaster recovery planning.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to manage critical infrastructure with minimal downtime.
- S Proactive approach to system improvements and security
- Minimum Exp. 8 years IT Infrastructure and Networking
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
