Rubber Technologist Compound Development Industry: Rubber / Elastomer Manufacturing Experience: 10 to 12 Years Location: Chennai / Tamil Nadu / maraimalar nagar Department: R&D; / Rubber Technology / Manufacturing Reporting To: Technical Manager / Plant Head Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Rubber Technologist with strong expertise in Compound Development, Banbury Mixing, Intermixer Operations, Extrusion, and Rubber Processing Technologies. The candidate should possess hands-on experience in developing and optimizing rubber formulations for automotive, industrial, and engineering applications. The ideal candidate must have solid technical knowledge of elastomer materials, mixing parameters, curing characteristics, process optimization, and quality improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities Compound Development & Formulation
- Develop and optimize rubber compounds based on customer and product requirements.
- Formulate compounds for properties such as:
- Heat resistance
- Oil resistance
- Abrasion resistance
- Compression set
- Tensile strength
- Flexibility and durability
- Work with elastomers such as:
- EPDM
- NBR
- SBR
- Silicone
- Neoprene
- Natural Rubber
- Fluoroelastomers Mixing & Processing
- Handle Banbury Mixing, Intermix Operations, and Two Roll Mill processing.
- Optimize mixing cycles, batch consistency, and dispersion quality.
- Monitor compound processing parameters including:
- Temperature
- Rotor speed
- Mixing time
- Fill factor
- Ensure consistency in master batch and final batch preparation. Extrusion & Curing
- Manage rubber extrusion processes for profiles, seals, hoses, and engineering components.
- Monitor curing and vulcanization processes to achieve desired product performance.
- Optimize curing cycles and process parameters to improve productivity and reduce rejection. Testing & Quality Control
- Conduct and interpret rubber testing including:
- Rheometer Testing
- Hardness Testing
- Tensile Strength
- Elongation
- Compression Set
- Aging Tests
- Analyze test results and recommend formulation or process modifications.
- Support APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and customer validation requirements. Process Improvement
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in compound quality and productivity.
- Reduce process variation, scrap, and customer complaints.
- Support cost optimization through raw material substitution and process improvements. Coordination & Documentation
- Coordinate with Production, Quality, Tool Room, and Customer teams.
- Maintain formulation records, batch reports, process documentation, and technical data sheets.
- Support customer audits and technical discussions. Required Skills
