Description
Job purpose
- This position is in the Private Markets division at Acuity, one of the fastest growing segments within the firm. The position will report to Associate Director, Private Markets
- It will offer the opportunity to work with Private Equity teams of our clients across industries (technology, fintech, retail, financial services, transportation etc.) and assist them in devising their deal sourcing, deal assessment, due diligence, portfolio monitoring and valuation activities including company/industry analysis, financial modeling (DCF, LBO), relative valuation, etc.
- Typical engagements would involve (but not be limited to) the following:
- Maintaining high quality in the below workflows by performing quality checks, providing training, mentoring and upskilling juniors:
- Financial spreading and valuation analysis: Creation and updation of detailed financial models including DCF, M&A;, LBO Models, trading & transaction comps, valuation analysis via different techniques, through idea of company financial metrices
- M&A; and strategic analysis: Identification and analysis of potential targets through analysis of markets, products, services and financial synergies
- Peer group benchmarking & competition landscaping: Identifying players operating in relevant industry, mapping them by geographies, sector or other parameters, benchmarking shortlisted players on various KPIs
- Commercial due diligence support: Commercial due diligence of potential investment through analysis of the market prospect, target company’s business model, its competitive positioning, etc.
- Overseeing the request intake process, including participation in project scoping calls to improve understanding and prepare detailed project scope documents
- Preparing and driving the content of client- and prospect-related materials, including pitches, proposals, client marketing materials, and other associated offering documents and analyses
- Working with Investment Banking and Boutique Advisory clients on work types including but not limited to pitchbook creation, industry research, valuation, capital market products, and idea/peer/target identification
- Motivating and managing a team of analysts, planning workflows, and liaising with global clients to ensure that deadlines are met at the required standard
- Contributing to process improvement, QC, and providing value adds to the deliverables and automation of tasks
- Providing domain expertise in M&A; and capital raising activities
- Communicating clearly and confidently with internal and external stakeholders both written and verbal
- Providing strategic thought leadership through the authoring of blogs and whitepapers Key responsibilities
- Project Management:
- Understand client requirement, scope projects, manage end-to-end execution and delivery (work allocation, research, analysis, quality control, delivery)
- Translate client objectives into clear deliverables with associated priorities and constraints
- Experienced in all types of secondary research (databases, statistics and ministry/ industry/ association websites), as well as general research (company websites, SEC Filings, research reports, news articles etc.) and primary research involving discussions with industry players/ stakeholders
- Handle multiple work streams, as required
- Take complete ownership of all quality related aspects
- People Management
- Lead projects independently and guide a team of analysts and associates in daily tasks to ensure that the work is on course to meet clients’ objectives
- Manage team morale to be able to navigate through pressure situations
- Provide effective, on-time and objective feedback to team members and be involved in their overall grooming and development
- Client Management:
- Manage and maintain client relationships – would include regular interaction with client(s) to strengthen the relationship and identify opportunities to act as a solutions provider. Key competencies
- 8-12 years of experience working with Investment Banks and Boutique Advisory
- Experience in managing large teams
- Familiarity and expertise in a specific sector will be an added advantage
- Experience in complete delivery set-up, smooth roll-out of services and the implementation of best practices, feedback mechanisms, hiring and training the team
- Good knowledge of the products involved in the entire value chain of Investment Banking activities, including M&A; and capital raising
- Excellent understanding of the financial statements analysis
- A Masters in Business Administration and/or a full/ part qualification in CFA will be an added advantage
- A highly analytical mind and a high level of attention to detail
- Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
- A strong work ethics.
