Job Title Associate (Nurse / Sr. Nurse)- OT Department Nursing Qualification State Registered Nurse Midwife with graduation from an approved Nursing College (GNM/BSC/M.sc). Experience 1-10 years Work Location Ahmedabad Reports to Lead-Nursing Job Purpose Promotes and restores patients' health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; providing physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families; supervising assigned team members. Essential duties and responsibilities
- To take over and hand over the patient to the floors/ ICU.
- Maintain a clean and sterile OT at all times.
- Check and maintain all records of OT equipment and take necessary actions whenever required
- Plan and schedule all OT supplies/ instruments/ equipment effectively so that they are optimally utilized
- Maintain the OT records with respect to patients and equipment as per policy
- Plan and schedule manpower for surgeries effectively without wastage of time and manpower.
- Managing and providing supportive staff during critical incidents/ emergency situations.
- Be open to discuss any sentinel events/ near misses for promoting corrective action and ensuring high quality patient care.
- To assist in ensuring OT policies and procedures are followed at all times
- Ensure identification safety for collection of specimens during collection and till the report informed to consultant.
- Participate in consultant's rounds and assist by giving relevant information based on nursing assessment/reassessment and observations.
- Carry out routine check at each handover that all equipments are in working order.
- Maintain patients and accompanies safety by taking preventive measures against accidents.
- Accurately records and reports incidents.
- Ensure every error to be recorded.
- Ensure strict infection control protocol and bio-waste guidelines to be followed for 24x7.
- Ensure that daily briefing points and sign off are mandatory for day to day update. Specific Unit Related Nursing Care:
- Practice Aseptic Technique.
- Creates and maintains sterile field.
- Maintains Universal precautions.
- Provides equipment and supplies based on patient needs.
- Set ups Operation room for surgery.
- Perform proper specimen handling.
- Perform proper post-procedure duties.
- Receives patient into OT and checks documentation including anesthetic consent.
- Move the patient safely pre and post operatively.
- Provides detailed handover of patient post operatively.
- Ensure the swab count correct and signed off.
- Completes documentation.
- Adherence to IPSG (Sign in /Time Out / Sign out)
