The Solar Project Engineer / Project Manager will be responsible for end-to-end execution of solar power projects including project planning, engineering coordination,
procurement, construction management, commissioning, and handover to O&M; teams.
The candidate must have solid understanding of Solar EPC execution and Solar Power Plant lifecycle, from land assessment and design to commissioning and long-term O&M;
management.
The role requires the ability to manage multiple parallel sites, coordinate with internal teams and contractors, and ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and
as per quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Planning & Development
• Plan and execute utility-scale and rooftop solar projects.
• Participate in site feasibility studies, land assessment, and technical due diligence.
• Review project scope, timelines, and deliverables.
• Prepare project schedules, execution plans, and milestone tracking.
2. Engineering & Design Coordination
• Coordinate with design and engineering teams for system layouts and plant design.
• Review and approve SLD, module layouts, string configuration, inverter sizing, and cable routing.
• Ensure designs comply with local regulations, grid requirements, and safety standards.
3. Procurement & Vendor Management
• Coordinate with procurement teams for solar modules, inverters, mounting structures, cables, transformers, SCADA, and BOS components.
• Evaluate vendor proposals and ensure quality and technical compliance.
• Monitor delivery schedules to avoid project delays.
4. Construction & Site Management
• Manage EPC site execution activities including:
Civil works
Mounting structure installation
Module installation
Electrical works and cabling
• Supervise contractors and subcontractors.
• Ensure quality control, safety compliance, and site productivity.
- Monitor progress across multiple parallel sites.
5. Testing, Commissioning & Grid Synchronization
• Oversee plant testing, commissioning, and grid connectivity.
• Coordinate with utilities for net metering / grid synchronization approvals.
• Verify plant performance and ensure compliance with project specifications.
6. Project Monitoring & Reporting
• Track project schedules, budgets, and resource utilization.
• Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports.
• Identify project risks and implement mitigation plans.
7. Client & Stakeholder Management
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and project stakeholders.
• Coordinate with consultants, DISCOMs, contractors, and government authorities.
• Conduct project review meetings and site visits.
8. O&M; Handover and Lifecycle Support
• Coordinate handover of the plant to the Operations & Maintenance (O&M;) team.
• Ensure proper documentation including:
As-built drawings
Commissioning reports
Warranty documentation
O&M; manuals
• Provide support for initial performance monitoring and troubleshooting.
