Job Description Position: Manager Process Engineering (Green Ammonia / Hydrogen Projects) Location: Surat, Gujarat Industry: Renewable Energy / Green Hydrogen / Chemical Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Process Engineer (Chemical) to lead the Process Engineering function for a Green Ammonia project currently in the execution phase. The incumbent will be responsible for end-to-end process design coordination, vendor interface, and technical review to ensure safe, efficient, and optimized plant performance. Key Responsibilities Process Engineering Leadership
- Lead and manage all process engineering activities for the Green Ammonia project
- Act as the single-point owner for process design integrity across the project lifecycle Vendor & Licensor Coordination
- Review and align Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Heat & Material Balances (HMBs) from multiple technology providers (Electrolyser, Air Separation Unit, Ammonia Synthesis Loop, etc.)
- Ensure consistency and integration across all packages
- Resolve interface issues between different licensors and vendors Cross-functional & PMC Coordination
- Work closely with the Project Management Consultant (PMC) for design validation and execution alignment
- Coordinate with Mechanical, Electrical, and Instrumentation teams for seamless integration Design Review & Optimization
- Review detailed engineering documents including PFDs, P&IDs;, HMBs, equipment sizing, datasheets, and control philosophies
- Identify opportunities for process optimization, energy efficiency, and cost reduction Execution & Commissioning Support
- Provide process engineering inputs during detailed engineering and procurement
- Support site team during construction, commissioning, and startup phases
- Troubleshoot process design and operational issues Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with process safety standards and best practices
- Ensure adherence to PESO guidelines and statutory requirements
- Participate in HAZOP / HAZID studies and ensure timely closure of action points Candidate Profile Educational Qualification
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from a reputed institution Experience
- 10–15 years of experience in process engineering
- Prior experience in Ammonia, Hydrogen, Refinery, or Petrochemical projects preferred
- Experience in Green Hydrogen / Green Ammonia projects will be an added advantage Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of Ammonia Synthesis Loop and Hydrogen generation (Electrolysis preferred)
- Proficiency in process simulation tools such as Aspen HYSYS / Aspen Plus or equivalent
- Hands-on experience in reviewing PFDs, P&IDs;, and HMBs
- Familiarity with international engineering standards and process safety practices Key Competencies
