The Assistant Manager– Budgetary Control will play a key role in supporting the organization's financial planning, budgeting, and cost optimization initiatives within an NBFC environment. The role involves monitoring financial performance, ensuring adherence to budgets, and providing actionable insights through variance analysis and MIS reporting to enable effective decision-making.Key Responsibilities 1. Budgeting&Financial Planning Support the preparation of annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and long-term financial plans . Collaborate with business, collections, credit, and operations teams to gather inputs for budgeting. Assist in developing product-level, branch-level, and portfolio-level budgets aligned with business goals.2. Cost Control&Expense Monitoring Monitor and track operating expenses (OPEX) across departments and branches. Ensure cost discipline by identifying areas of inefficiencies and recommending corrective actions. Evaluate cost-to-income ratio, cost per loan, and operational efficiency metrics . 3. Variance AnalysisPerform detailed budget vs actual variance analysis across revenue, expenses, and profitability parameters. Identify key drivers for variances in disbursements, yield, operating costs, and credit costs . Prepare variance reports with clear commentary and actionable insights for management. 4. MIS&Reporting Prepare and maintain periodic MIS reports (monthly/quarterly) covering: Financial performance Budget utilization Expense trends Ensure accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of reporting. Develop dashboards and reports for senior management review. 5. FP&A Support Assist in financial analysis, forecasting, and scenario planning . Support evaluation of business performance, including branch productivity and profitability . Contribute to financial modeling for business decisions such as expansion, cost optimization, or product launches. 6. Business PartneringWork closely with cross-functional teams (Sales, Credit, Collections, Operations) to track financial performance. Provide insights to help business teams manage costs and achieve budget targets. 7. Process Improvement&Automation Drive automation in budgeting, MIS, and reporting processes using analytics tools. Improve data quality and streamline workflows to enhance reporting efficiency. 8. Governance&Compliance Ensure adherence to internal financial controls and policies. Support audit requirements and maintain proper documentation of budgeting and reporting processes. Key Skills&Competencies Strong understanding of budgeting, cost control, and FP&A processes Knowledge of NBFC business metrics (NIM, Cost of Funds, Credit Cost, OPEX ratios) Analytical mindset with attention to detail Ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights Good communication and stakeholder management skills Proactive approach to process improvement and automationPreferred Candidate Profile CA Inter / CMA with 2+ years of experience in NBFC / BFSI / Financial Services Experience in budgeting, MIS reporting, and financial analysis Exposure to cost control and expense monitoring in a lending business environment is preferred
