Position Overview The CAD Programmer will be responsible for creating, developing, and optimizing 2D/3D design models of orthopedic implants, instruments, and associated components using advanced CAD software. The role involves converting design concepts into precise engineering drawings, supporting product development, ensuring regulatory compliance, and collaborating with R&D;, Quality, and Manufacturing teams. Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed 2D drawings and 3D solid models of implants, surgical instruments, and fixtures.
- Program and simulate designs for manufacturing compatibility (VMC, CNC, Swiss, and 5-axis machining).
- Ensure adherence to international standards (ISO, ASTM, FDA, CE, ISO 13485) in design documentation.
- Create design libraries and parametric models for efficiency and scalability.
- Support prototyping, validation, and verification of new products.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&D;, QC, Production) to integrate feedback into design improvements.
- Prepare and maintain BOMs (Bill of Materials), design history files, and technical documentation.
- Perform tolerance analysis, FEA (Finite Element Analysis), and stress simulations for implant safety.
- Ensure designs comply with sterile packaging, labeling, and regulatory documentation requirements.
- Work on design changes, revisions, and continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications & Requirements Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Industrial Design, or equivalent.
- Specialized training/certification in CAD/CAM software (Solid Works, AutoCAD, Creo, CATIA, Siemens NX, etc.). Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and drafting.
- Knowledge of CNC programming (G-code, M-code) for implant and instrument manufacturing.
- Familiarity with orthopedic/medical device design standards and tolerances.
- Understanding of FEA, simulation, and GD&T; (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Basic knowledge of biocompatible materials (Titanium, Stainless Steel, Bio-resorbables, etc.).
- Hands-on experience with manufacturing processes (machining, forging, molding, anodizing, polishing). Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Excellent attention to detail and precision.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work under regulatory guidelines with documentation discipline. Experience:
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in CAD programming/design (medical device/precision engineering industry preferred).
