Production Manager – Planning (Vapi)

Job Position: Production Manager – Planning Location: Sarigam, Near Vapi, Gujarat Industry: Chemical Manufacturing Job Purpose To lead production planning and scheduling activities to ensure optimal utilization of plant capacity, timely order fulfilment, inventory control, and alignment with business objectives while maintaining safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities 1. Production Planning & Scheduling
· Develop short-term and long-term production plans based on sales forecasts and customer orders.
· Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules.
· Optimize machine and manpower utilization.
· Managing the shop-floor Supervisors and Operators.
· Coordinate with plant operations to ensure adherence to schedules.
· Collaborate with Sales, Purchase, and Stores teams to align production with demand.
· Ensure availability of raw materials and packaging materials.
· Monitor inventory levels and minimize stock-outs/excess inventory.
· Identify bottlenecks and improve production efficiency.
· Drive continuous improvement initiatives (lean practices, cost reduction).
· Monitor production KPIs such as yield, capacity utilization, and cycle time. 2. MIS & Reporting
· Prepare production reports, variance analysis, and performance dashboards.
· Track actual vs planned production and highlight deviations.
· Provide actionable insights to management. 3. Cross-functional Coordination
· Work closely with QA/QC, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams.
· Ensure compliance with production timelines without compromising quality.
· Support new product launches and scale-ups.
· GMP/FDA/QC Systems knowledge required. 4. Compliance & Safety
· Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and statutory norms.
· Follow company SOPs and regulatory guidelines (e.g., chemical handling norms). Qualifications & Experience
· Education: B.E./B.Tech in Chemical Engineering (preferred), BSc/ MSc chemistry or related field will also be considered.
· Experience: 8–15 years in chemical manufacturing, with at least 3–5 years in production planning.
· Experience in batch processing / continuous chemical plants preferred
· Experience in managing shop-floor supervisors & operators
· Demonstrable experience will be an advantage
· Preference will also be given to senior retired people staying in and around Vapi, Gujarat. Skills & Competencies
· Strong knowledge of production planning and inventory control.
· Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP / Tally / other planning tools).
· Analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Leadership and team coordination ability.
· Good communication and stakeholder management.
· Understanding of safety and regulatory requirements in the chemical industry. Preferred Attributes
· Experience in mid-sized manufacturing setups
· Exposure to Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma practices
