Job description

Mid-size US law firm is seeking a patent paralegal. Must possess knowledge of procedures and deadlines in US and foreign patent offices, particularly in regard to patent prosecution.

This position requires a high level of attention to detail and the ability to stay focused and be self-directed. Importantly, candidate must be both accurate and effective in their work and be responsive to constructive feedback. Candidate must maintain client confidentiality and provide excellent and prompt customer service to clients and firm attorneys.

Location: Pune (India)/ remote

Required skills

· 5+ years of experience as a patent paralegal in in-house or law firm role

· Demonstrated ability to work as a member of geographically distributed team

· Robust interpersonal skills including for remote and asynchronous work

· Bachelor’s degree or higher

· Proficiency in English

· AI tools for patent preparation and prosecution

· Google Workspace tools including Google Sheets and Google Meet

· Acrobat Pro

· Microsoft Excel

Key Responsibilities

Patent Application Preparation and Filing

Prepare form documents and formally file US provisional, non-provisional, and design patent applications via Patent Center.

Draft necessary formal documents including declarations, powers of attorney, assignments, and Application Data Sheets (ADS).

Review filing packages for accuracy, ensuring compliance with USPTO rules and client-specific guidelines.

Prepare and file Information Disclosure Statements (IDS), managing the collection and tracking of prior art references.

Maintenance of the Patent Docket

Monitor and manage the patent docket to track critical deadlines for office action responses, issue fees, and maintenance fees.

Issue timely reminders to attorneys and clients regarding upcoming statutory deadlines.

Prosecution and Post-Allowance Support
