Job Summary About the Role: Comcast has an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to become the Senior Database Engineer (Oracle and Open Source Databases) of Media Infrastructure Technology with a specific focus on support of the Comcast Local Division for Comcast Operations and Technology (O&T;). O&T; supports enterprise Technology, Broadcast and Production systems across the Comcast portfolio globally. Database Engineer (Oracle and Open Source Databases) of Media Infrastructure Technology will partner with Comcast Local Technology leadership on technology strategy, day to day operations and platform support, long range initiatives planning, collaboration with cross-functional business leaders and partners, and management of a dynamic team providing 'best in class' support for our Comcast local stations. Job Description Areas of Responsibility Responsible for architecting and designing highly available, scalable, secured and database solutions Subject Matter Expert in Oracle Enterprise Database Understanding of open source database technologies such as MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, and MongoDB Analyze and resolve application availability and performance issues related to database infrastructure in coordination with application, computer, and incident management teams. Find root cause of database infrastructure issues and recommend corrective actions Develop and implement database patching strategy to keep environment secure, reliable, and highly available Lead infarstructure project teams in scoping, design, and project work estimations Actively participates in project meetings and provides input to design and implementation of database solutions Identify issues and project business requirements and develop solutions to them Own responsibility for the technical quality of our team's solutions delivery describe architecture decisions and rationales at a detailed level to both client and internal teams Own responsibility for technical platform, continuous Improvement initiatives and work with other technical leads to define and maintain compliance with organizational standards Contribute to internal R&D; initiatives help drive innovative solutions to broaden the technical capabilities of the department Collaborate with Cyber Security and ensure databases meet modern security standards and identify solutions for remediation of vulnerabilities in Database infrastructure Participate in 24/7 support by acting as an escalation point for any production issues Provide mentorship and guidance to team colleagues Stay current with trends and incorporate emerging technology to benefit the platform for on premise and cloud solutions REQUIREMENTS: Skill Sets 2-5 years of Hands-on experience in Oracle Enterprise database administration Hands-on experience across different database platforms such as MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, and MongoDB 2-5 years of Hands-on experience with In-depth knowledge and experience with database security practices, backup and recovery standards, patching, and performance monitoring and alerting Write complete stored procedures, functions, ETL jobs Strong PL/SQL skills, Query performance analysis, Index optimization 2+ years of NoSQL database experience Identify and optimize complete and long running queries and remove blockages Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to understand complex relationships between components of multi-tiered and distributed applications Awareness of Internet-working concepts
