Production Supervisor (Sattur)

Job Description – Production Supervisor (Matches Industry) Job Title: Production Supervisor Department: Production Industry: Matches Manufacturing Location: SATTUR Reporting To: Production Manager / Factory Manager Experience: 3–7 Years in Matches / Fireworks / Explosives / Chemical Manufacturing Qualification: Diploma / ITI / Any Graduate (Technical preferred) Roles & Responsibilities Production Planning & Control
- Supervise daily matches production activities as per production plan
- Ensure target output, quality, and wastage control
- Monitor raw material usage (splints, chemicals, boxes, labels, wrappers)
- Maintain production registers and shift reports Process Supervision (Matches Manufacturing)
- Oversee splint dipping, drying, box filling, labeling, and packing
- Ensure correct chemical mixing ratios as per approved formula
- Monitor drying time, humidity, and storage conditions
- Prevent cross-contamination and spillage of chemicals Safety & Statutory Compliance
- Enforce strict fire safety and explosive safety norms
- Ensure workers use PPE (gloves, masks, aprons, footwear)
- Maintain compliance with Factories Act, Explosives Rules, PESO norms
- Conduct daily safety checks in dipping, drying, and storage areas
- Report and investigate near-miss incidents, accidents, or hazards Manpower Handling
- Allocate workers section-wise and shift-wise
- Monitor attendance, discipline, and productivity
- Train workers on safe work practices and SOPs
- Coordinate with HR for wages, overtime, and leave records Quality Control
- Ensure matchstick ignition quality, head strength, and packing accuracy
- Conduct in-process checks and final inspection
- Reduce rejections, breakage, and moisture defects Maintenance & Housekeeping
- Coordinate preventive maintenance of machines, racks, trays, drying rooms
- Ensure 5S, cleanliness, and safe material storage
- Monitor waste disposal as per safety guidelines Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain:
- Daily production report
- Raw material consumption register
- Safety checklist
- Accident / incident records
- Submit daily/weekly reports to management Skills & Competencies
- Solid knowledge of matches manufacturing process & safety
- Leadership and worker handling skills
- Ability to work under strict safety discipline
- Basic computer knowledge (Excel, reports)
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills Preferred
- Experience in matches / fireworks / pyrotechnics industry
- Knowledge of PESO inspections & compliance
